PRODUCT CARE
Shirt Care
Because proper care is defined by so many factors-the amount the fabric has been preshrunk, its weave and construction- we recommend that you read the care instructions on the label and launder the shirt before wearing it.
Launder shirts in temperatures not to exceed 150F (hot) but preferable 110F (warm) water. Detergents should be used sparingly and tumble drying avoided if possible. Starch and heat break down cotton fibers and shorten the life of your shirt. Request that the laundry use only light starch or no starch and that the shirts be pressed no longer than 19 seconds and at no more than 285F. According to the Canadian shirt manufacturers association, “too many laundries have little knowledge of their machinery’s heat. Pressure and dwell time and press shirts in excess of 350F.” If properly laundered a shirt will reach its permanent stability after 4-5 washings. Changes in size after that are due to improper care and are irreversible.
Because shrinkage is a definite factor in pure cotton shirts, we allow for it when constructing our shirt. The sleeve of the Robert Talbott dress shirt measures approximately 7/8” longer than the size label and the collar ¾” larger than the size label.
As with all things beautiful, natural fibers will reward your careful handling with years of beauty and dependable service.

Cashmere Care
It is recommended that your cashmere garment be washed after it has been worn three or four times. Cashmere can be hand washed or dry cleaned. We recommend hand washing as it preserves the natural oils in the cashmere thread.
Gently wash in lukewarm water (95F) using mild soap or cashmere shampoo.
Gently squeeze the suds through the garment, taking care not to rub it too much as this can lead to shrinkage and increased pilling. Rinse garment in cool clean water, squeezing without twisting or ringing. A short spin in a spin dryer may also help to remove most of the water.
Smooth the garment back into its original shape, gently coaxing any facings and trims back to the correct size. (It is at this time that a garment that is too trim at any point may be gently stretched to achieve a better fit). Dry naturally, away from direct heat such as radiators and sunlight. Ideally the garment should be dried on a clean flat towel (or rolled up in a towel). When dry, you may press lightly with a cool iron. Under no circumstances should the garment ever be tumble dried.
Following these instructions will help ensure your garment preserves its’ shape and luxurious handle for many years to come.
Cashmere is made in Scotland.
The Golden Rules for Shoe Care
1. A new pair of shoes should never be worn for many consecutive hours. Once your feet are completely accustomed to the shoes, you can begin to wear them all day.
2. Never ware the same pair of shoes two days in a row. Let them rest for at least a day before wearing them again.
3. Always use a shoehorn when putting on your shoes.
4. Before removing lace-up shoes, loosen the laces completely so that they slip off.
5. Once you have taken off your shoes, insert made-to-measure shoetrees.
6. Shoetrees should also be used when the shoes are wet from rain or snow. In this case, the shoes should not be rested on the soles, but on their sides, and left to dry for an entire day.
7. Each time you wear a pair of shoes they should be cleaned and polished, even when they still look shiny.
8. Should you not wear your shoes for some time, coat them with a thin layer of polish, put them in the cloth sack provided, and keep them soles down in the box
